🌿 Kaantham
காந்தம் | Ayaskantam | Magnetite | Lodestone
Mineral Name: Magnetite (Iron Oxide)
Chemical Formula: Fe₃O₄
Traditional System: Siddha Medicine
Category: Ulogam / Loham (Mineral-based medicine)
🌱 Description
Kaantham is a naturally occurring magnetic mineral known traditionally in Siddha medicine as Ayaskantam. It is a form of iron ore with inherent magnetic properties. In Siddha texts, Kaantham is highly valued after proper purification (Suddhi) and incineration (Parpam / Chendooram preparation) before internal use.
Raw Kaantham is never consumed directly. Only purified and processed Kaantham preparations are used therapeutically, primarily for strengthening the body, improving blood quality, and supporting chronic conditions.
🌍 Source & Occurrence
Kaantham occurs naturally in iron-rich mineral deposits and mountainous regions. Traditionally sourced from mineral-rich terrains in India and other parts of Asia. Only naturally formed magnetite stones with strong magnetic properties are selected for medicinal processing.
